26  I really enjoyed meeting lots of educators at the Northeast Media Literacy Conference at the
University of Connecticut in Storrs. My morning keynote pointed to the importance of critical thinking
in the nation’s standards and the many references to media literacy in the documents which highlight
those skills young people need for 21st century learning. Later, I conducted two hands-on workshops,
designed to showcase ways media literacy can be incorporated into instruction.

24  Thanks to all the librarians who attended my session in N. Charleston at the SCASL conference.
I enjoyed meeting lots of new media specialists who are interested in incorporating media literacy into
instruction. My PowerPoint is posted on the SCASL conference page.
