analyze the interplay between scientific and technological innovations and new patterns of social and cultural life, including radio, transatlantic cable, film, phonograph, and automobile

analyze the roles of political parties, campaigns, and elections in United States politics, including the importance of the nominating process, campaign finance and advertising, and the Electoral College
