The SC State Department of Education's English Language Arts team conducted four training sessions on the revised ELA Standards in January and February 2003 in Columbia, South Carolina. As part of that training, media educator Frank Baker demonstrated how teachers can begin to integrate the new Communication-Viewing standards. In November 2005, and December 2006, I conducted two "Best Practices" workshops on the same topic. Posted below are the handouts that were distributed to participants. (Info in red/bold below has been added since the original workshops.) NOTE: teachers who wish to know more about the subjects listed below are urged to log onto the Media Literacy Clearinghouse and click on a specific category for more detailed information, articles and lesson plans. |
